Hits the Pot
Potlikker D.C. Southern Film and Food Fest

likk it clean!

In the world of hedonists, there’s finger lickin’ (usually reserved for chicken) and licking the spoon (hooray for batter). It’s only the rare treat that brings out Potlikking.

And you should bring your heftiest appetite to Southern Foodways Alliance’s Potlikker D.C., an event that brings together top area chefs for a tribute to Southern cuisine.

Travel by food and film to a Mississippi haven for fried catfish while Ann Cashion prepares tamales. A look at Nashville’s premier spicy chicken destination should work up hankerings for Gillian Clark’s buttermilk-brined fried bird.

Listen to jazz as you digest heirloom pigs in blankets and hoecakes or nip whiskey with pastry whiz David Guas’s Jack Daniel’s and sweet potato pie.

You lick it like that.

Potlikker D.C., Saturday, 6-9 p.m., at Johnny’s Half Shell, 400 North Capitol Street, between E Street and Louisiana Avenue (662-915-5993). Tickets online at southernfoodways.com.

I want to go to this so badly. Anyone have $40 to donate to the cause of Taste Buds?

Thanks.

Love, Emily
